All Roads Lead to… Rhodes #Day 9
On da beach
We’ve been doing a lot of travelling and a lot of walking during our time here on the Greek island, so today was all about relaxing.
My wife made me do it.
But before we got our swim on, we drove to a very small folklore museum nearby called Rodos Nature. It only had two rooms, neither of which was particularly large, but everything had been laid out so lovingly that you couldn’t help but appreciate the effort.
It is a family business, and the older gentleman who runs the show took the time to walk us through everything his museum had to offer.
Of course, it was Greek history, so a lot of what he was saying was specific to his country, but there were also many things that we clearly share with our continental European friends.
I can’t praise the museum enough, and it deserves more patrons than it obviously gets. I felt bad for them, so I bought a bunch of keyrings from him to ease my conscience!
After that we headed to Tsambika Beach for pretty much the rest of the day. The sunbeds were a tad on the expensive side, but when in Rhodes, yadda yadda… The water was lovely, and there was very little current at all so it made for an extremely pleasant few hours on the sand.
Before we headed home there was a monastery next to the beach that I had heard made for a good view. Well, that was true, but getting to it proved extremely precarious as it sits atop an almost impossibly steep road.
We only managed to get to the parking spot before resigning ourselves to the fact that we weren’t going any further.
Still, the views fron there were spectacular.
