All Roads Lead to… Rhodes #Day 10
The Isle of Symi
A lot of people who come to Rhodes on holiday say that the ferry to Symi is one of the must-do day trips, so it was a no-brainer when we were deciding upon things to do.
First and foremost, Symi is a beautiful island — at least the harbour and its immediate surroundings are. It’s truly one of the most attractive docks you will ever see. Unfortunately, we were not able to see much beyond that because we only had a four hour window before the ferry returned to hurl us back to Rhodes.
It was a shame, and I think if we were to come back to the Greek Islands we would probably choose to stay overnight on Symi in order to experience more of it, when the majority of the tourists had left.
The buildings dotted along the harbour and perched on the rock that rises above, are gloriously coloured either pastel shades of blue, pink, or yellow. It really is like something out of a fairytale, and you can’t help but smile.
We looked over the shore and had a lovely lunch (Symi shimps for me), but we did have to pay attention to the clock, and there are only so many souvenir shops you can check out in four hours.
So yes, we had a great time on Symi… we only wish it was longer.
